Webinar: Stop Spiny! The Science of Invasive Spiny Waterfleas

Overview: Join us for a live virtual presentation to learn about the science of invasive spiny waterfleas, and how the STOP SPINY campaign can help you protect your favorite lakes! The “Stop Spiny Prevention Campaign” is a regional effort to prevent the introduction of harmful invasive Spiny Waterfleas, led by Douglas County Natural Resources Specialist Zach Stewart.  As part of this campaign, Stewart offers educational presentations and specialized cleaning cloths throughout the four Lake Superior Counties, and provides training for Clean Boats, Clean Waters watercraft inspectors, aiming to limit the spread of Spiny Waterfleas which can negatively impact Walleye and Perch fisheries. About the Speaker:  Zach Stewart has degrees in Geology and Oceanography from Carleton College in Northfield MN and the University of California Santa Cruz, respectively.  Zach works as the Natural Resources Specialist and Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator for Douglas County and is passionate about protecting our lakes and streams in the Lake Superior region.
